Full Description
October 1999 to February 2000. Metal detecting. [1].
Medieval copper alloy 'arched pendant mount', commonly known as a purse hanger. It is an oval section bar, slightly swollen in the centre, with each end bent up. One is broken, but the other ends in a rounded knob terminal. It looks very like a late Post Medieval drop handle from a drawer, but the straightness of the central area and the feel of the metal (rough powdery green corrosion) argue against this.
Very similar to example in (S1).
Identified by H. M. Geake (A&E)
K. Hinds (NLA) 1 August 2000.
