March 2023. Aylsham and Brampton Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
The cropmarks of probable field boundaries (see above), of an unknown date are visible on aerial photographs (S2-S5). The date of the features is uncertain. The features likely relate to medieval to post medieval field boundaries and may have formed part of a wider field system. However, the possibility that the features may relate to Iron Age to Roman boundaries or possible settlement features, although less likely, cannot be ruled out. The cropmarks of former post medieval boundaries recorded on the readily accessible historic maps, also visible across the area on S6 and S7. As the features have been recorded in good detail on the historic maps, they have not been mapped by the project. The monument polygon has been extended to the extent of the features as seen on S4-S5.
