Full Description
2000. Casual find when hand digging footing trench for new dwelling.
Found at a depth of about 45cm (18" - 9" topsoil and 9" clay). Middle of Burrels Meadow.
Medieval buckle: oval frame (15x23mm) with groove in centre of outer edge (pin missing); rectangular plate (11x19.5mm) with pin slot, frame recesses, punched lines along side and attachment edge, three rivet holes, enclosing remains of textile.
Late 13th-14th century.
