NHER 3997 (Building record) - High Green Baptist Chapel

A Nonconformist chapel built in Tudor style with stepped gable and great pinnacles on porch.
(S1) dates it 1831, which is very unusual, as Nonconformists of this date usually build in Classical style.
It appears modern owing to a coat of roughcast.

[1] notes a story from the previous minister to the effect that it was originally built at Surlingham and moved here, therefore it has no foundations.
This seems very unlikely, especially as he was under the impression that it was built of stone rather than brick.
There is a church plate consisting of a chalice of some value but details unknown.

A date of 1831 appears in two spandrels of the wooden frame of the porch doorway although the chapel was apparently built in 1841.
