September 2000. Metal detecting.
Identified by A. Rogerson (NLA).
1) Medieval buckle pate, 31 by 22mm. Rectangular with two attachment holes at open end (one with iron rivet). Pin slot, frame recess. Narrowed bar of frame in loop. Slightly smaller back plate. Saltire with border filled with (now yellow) enamel.
2) Probably medieval lead biconical spindle whorl with cast decoration of repeating ovoids on each side.
3) Seven late post medieval and modern objects from same area of field; rest of field 'find free'.
