Summary

A series of small excavations, watching briefs and building surveys took place in 2000 and 2001. Discoveries included 16th century wall paintings in number 65, two sections of a previously unknown Cathedral Priory 'Great Drain' and clay pipe and figurine mould fragments. The majority of the existing fabric of the buildings was found to be post medieval or Victorian in date. Their core, however, was made up of elements of three medieval buildings associated with the monastic infirmary.
