Map

Garden of house south east of windmill.
Circular brick structure, about 2 metres high, massive proportions.
Earth dome sprouting grass on top.
Splayed openings resembling gun ports of type seen on coastal batteries.
Marked on (S1) as open circle.
Not present on (S2) which suggests it is some sort of World War Two defence but not like any standard type known. Seen only from adjacent footpath, closer inspection might clarify matters.
E. Rose (NLA) 22 January 2001.

June 2001.
According to the custodian at Denver Mill this is the base of an astronomical observatory, built within living memory by the owner of the house.
