Summary

Fieldwalking, geophysical survey and archaeological excavations were carried out in this location during the early part of 2001. This work did not uncover a great deal of archaeology but some prehistoric flints and pottery sherds were recovered.

February 2001. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of proposed development area, which includes the site of a Bronze Age barrow (NHER 10788).
This survey identified several areas of positive response that may represent archaeological remains.

February 2001. Systematic Fieldwalking Survey.
Evaluation of proposed development area, which includes the site of a Bronze Age barrow (NHER 10788).
Fieldwalking recovered prehistoric flints and a single prehistoric pottery sherd.

April 2001. Trial Trenching.
Further evaluation of proposed development area, which includes the site of a Bronze Age barrow (NHER 10788).
Negative results, suggesting barrow (if one was indeed once present) had been completely levelled, with no outer ring dith surviving.
