October 2002. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of two possible Bronze Age ring ditches and a trackway of unknown date, visible on NLA oblique aerial photographs from 1994 (S1-2). The clearest ring ditch is located at TG 0590 4106. Its ditch is 27m in diameter and is up to 3.5m wide in places. The interior of this ring ditch is producing a parched cropmark, which may be indicative of the remains of an interior barrow mound, however, this may be geological in origin, as the field displays heavy geological patterning. A second, much fainter ring ditch is possibly located at TG 0594 4108. The eastern arc is not visible, but the apparent diameter would be 24m. To the south of these cropmarks is a linear feature running from TG 0588 4104 to TG 0601 4107. A parched/compacted linear surface can be identified which is 140m long and up to 4m wide. This appears to be flanked by ditches to either side. This feature is likely to be a trackway or road surface of unknown definite date.
S. Massey (NMP), 23 December 2002.
