Summary

An undated boundary bank running along the parish boundary was noted during the Forest Enterprise Survey of Great Wood. Old maps reveal Great Wood is not ancient woodland.

Survey of ancient woodland noted that the parish boundary is marked by a very well-defined bank, up to 1m high.

Great wood now thought not to be ancient.

2006. Walkover Survey.
Rapid Earthwork Identification Survey of forestry compartments to be affected by planned programme of destumping.
Section of bank has already been removed within the corridor by an existing track. Recommended that further damage be avoided if possible by not destumping in its immediate vicinity.
