Map

Previously recorded under NHER 12588.
19 - 20 June 1990. NAU air photography.
To south of track what may be an ovoid enclosure (D. Edwards (NAU)), but this is a very odd feature and may be recent or alternatively geological. It is not like the ovoid NHER 25989.
E. Rose (NAU), 18 February 1994.

Previously recorded under NHER 30563.
29 June 1993. NLA air photography.
Irregular ditched enclosure, roughly ovoid in shape. The northwest ditch is relatively straight, while the opposing end tapers to a narrow curving point.
Sub-rectangular internal feature may be present.
The feature is located within Gressenhall Park, so it may be an old park feature, although it appears to be prehistoric typologically.
S. Massey (NLA), 29 January 2001.

19 July 1996. NLA air photography.
Cropmark of an irregular ovoid enclosure; the western ditch of which is relatively straight. It is possible that the enclosure is geological or of recent origin, although it may in fact be prehistoric.
To the south of the enclosure are two parallel curvilinear features.
Running roughly north to south is a linear feature, this may be a ditch, although it could be a drain. In addition to this feature are two linear elements perpendicular to it.
S. Massey (NLA), 24 April 2001.

November 2007. Norfolk NMP
A cropmark of an irregular sub-oval feature of unknown date is visible on aerial photographs (S1-S5). This cropmark has previously also been recorded within NHER 12588 and NHER 30563 and the text from those entries is copied above. It appears to form an asymmetrical sub-oval enclosure and measures 60m by 30m externally. It is defined by a narrow ditch with no obvious break or entrance. On (S4) the cropmark appears to overlie geological cropmarks suggesting that it is likely to be of archaeological origin. It is located in an area of former parkland (NHER 50576 and NHER 51031). Although no corresponding feature is marked on a 1624 map showing the park (see NHER 50576), the enclosure does surround a group of four trees shown within the later post medieval park on the second edition 25 inch to the mile Ordnance Survey map (S6). However, it is not clear if the trees just relate to a park feature, or if they were located on an earlier feature of unknown date and function.
J. Albone (NMP), 8 November 2007.
