Summary

Fieldwalking in this area during 2001 recovered prehistoric flint artefacts and medieval and post medieval pottery sherds. The prehistoric flints included a scraper, borers, a core and flakes. A field walking and metal-detecting survey was subsequently carried out within this field in 2004, prior to development. The majority of the surface finds, including 77 pottery sherds, 66 pieces of ceramic building material, 27 clay pipe fragments, and two coins, dated to the post-medieval period and were concentrated in the eastern side of the field. Thirty later-prehistoric struck flint objects, including a blade and a piercer, were also recorded as well as a small quantity of medieval pottery.
