Map

19 July 1996. NLA air photography (S1).
The north, east and south sides of what appears to be a rectangular enclosure. No break in ditch visible. Possible internal features visible, but geological disturbance makes this unclear.
M. Brennand (NLA), 9 May 2001.

May 2023. Aylsham and Brampton Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
Part of an undated rectilinear enclosure, described above, is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs (S1-S4). Additional elements (ditches) which share the orientation of the enclosure and appear to be contemporary are visible to the north and west. The western feature could form the west side of the enclosure. It was not possible to confirm the existence of the internal features suggested above.
There is little evidence to indicate the date of the enclosure: finds of all periods have been recovered from this and surrounding fields (for example, NHER 7633). The quantity and range of Roman material recovered, and the rectilinear form of the enclosure, could indicate a Roman date but this is far from certain.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 5 May 2023
