A cropmark of a double ring ditch of Bronze Age date is visible on aerial photographs (S1-S3). The grid reference for this cropmark has been corrected from TG 2994 1950 to TG 2998 1946. A trackway previously recorded under this number is now recorded as part of NHER 49183. The narrow outer ditch has a sub-circular to sub-oval in plan and an external diameter of 21m. The inner ditch is not completely visible as a cropmark. It is also narrow and has an oval plan with a maximum diameter of 12.5m. It is likely that this ring ditch is of Bronze Age date and that it relates to a round barrow. This ring ditch is located on a gentle northwest facing slope at approximately 13m OD. Other ring ditch cropmarks are present 120m to the southwest (NHER 49179), 200m to the south (NHER 49178) and 330m to the north (NHER 11878). This ring ditch cropmark is cut by two later field boundary ditches (NHER 49183).
J. Albone (NMP), 07 December 2006
