Summary

A probable non antiquity, perhaps the product of modern agricultural activity, is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs. Superficially, the site is reminiscent of a small square enclosure, defined by a narrow bank or wall. Although its potential archaeological significance cannot be entirely ruled out, a recent origin, probably related to agriculture, is more likely.

Map

18 July 1996. NLA air photography (S1).
A square structure or enclosure appearing as a parch mark, suggesting a building or subterranean structure.
Equally there may be a cropmark reversal and the features may be ditches.
The anomaly has a very regular, modern appearance and may not be of any great antiquity, but a Roman date cannot be ruled out.
M. Brennand (NLA), 3 December 2001.

June 2007. Norfolk NMP.
NMP mapping has led to the alteration of the central grid reference of the site from TG 3103 2151 to TG 3104 2151.
The structure or enclosure described above is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs (S2). It is unconvincing as an archaeological feature. Its northeast and southwest sides are contiguous with tramlines, for example, and a recent agricultural origin for the mark seems more likely.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 5 June 2007.
