Summary

At some time prior to 1907 two Neolithic/Bronze Age stone axe hammers were ploughed in the vicinity of Castle Acre Priory (NHER 4096).

Ploughed up not far from the Priory (NHER 4096):
2 Neolithic/Bronze Age perforated stone axe hammers.
Both now part of the Spalding Gentlemen's Society's A.C. Savin Collection (Nos 73 and 74). See drawings (S1) and (S2) - received from N. Moore (Lincoln Museum).
These objects are noted in (S3) and are the reason that Castle Acre is listed in (S4) as one of the locations that had produced prehistoric stone objects implements prior to 1907.

Petrology of object No 73 identified as Group XVIII quartz dolerite (N201) and that of No 74 as olivine dolerite (N202) - see list in (S6).
