Map

Before 18 September 2001. Metal detecting.
Medieval lead alloy openwork brooch with fleur-de-lis with beaded border, integral pin and catchplate on reverse. Diameter 21mm. Compare with example in (S1), but this piece lacks a ring or other element protruding form edge, unless such existed where edge is now missing, to the left of the fleur. This is unlikley because on the London examples the ring etc projects from the base of the fleur. The fleur-de-lis was a symbol of the Virgin, and this object may be therefore considered a religious object.
See (S2) and 1998, 157-9.
Identified by S.J. Ashley (NLA).
Much late post medieval and modern metalwork.
See lists in file.
A. Rogerson (NLA), 19 December 2001.
