Summary

A timber framed building, dating mainly to the 16th and 17th centuries, but probably on the site of an earlier medieval building. Part of the house was used for hemp retting or paper manufacture in the 18th or 19th century.

Complex building.
Cross wing apparently 16th century with inserted upper floor, kitchen?
Main block of same date or earlier, first floor hall?
Extended, remodelled and reroofed, 17th century.
Attic floor supported on canted principals with late occurence of religious symbols.
19th century brick extensions.
Evidence of use for flax or paper manufactury in 18th/19th century.

Brief survey by Norfolk Historic Buildings Group suggests that the northeast outshut was used to store cheese on edge, and that part of the house was used as a schoolroom. See (S3).
