The earthworks for housing gun emplacements are visible on aerial photographs and have been recorded as part of a wider military training area under NHER 53456. They are not thought to have been searchlight batteries, rather a training site for digging anti aircraft batteries. This military training area is likely to have continued to the north (NHER 54513).
