Map

Before 21 November 2001. Metal-detecting. On freshly drilled ground. [1].
Medieval copper alloy strap end formed sheet folded widthways and secured by two rivets, one near each end. The outside edge is angled. A very narrow piece at the point of the angle forms the junction between the two faces. Construction must have involved the cutting of two triangles, one on each long edge of the sheet strip, their apices almost touching. On the fornt face two lines of addorsed triangles follow each edge. It should be noted that a rivet and the joining piece are less than 2mm apart. Length 34.5mm, width 10.5mm. 14th century.
