Summary

The site of a post mill at Stone Hills, Heigham, built in 1731 and marked as a stone mill on a map of 1826. The corn post mill was set on top of a two storey brick built round-house. The mill is thought to have been demolished in the summer of 1857 after it failed to sell.

This is Stone Hills post mill, Heigham, Norwich and was use to grind corn. It was built in 1731 and the post mill was set on top of a two storey brick round-house. The mill is thought to have been demolished in 1857 after it failed to sell, despite repeated advertisement. See Website (S2).
The exact location of this mill is uncertain. The grid reference given in (S2) is different from that mapped originally from Bryant's map [1]. The current mapping encompasses the grid reference given in (S2) and the land owned by the current owners whose family have owned the potential mill site since 1895. See Correspondence (S3).
