Summary

Metal detecting in this area during 2002-04 recovered a variety of objects. Finds of note included six Roman coins, a Roman copper alloy spoon and coins of Henry II, Elizabeth I and Charles I.

Full Description

April-May 2002. Metal-detecting.
1 Roman copper alloy tinned/silvered spoon fragment (shallow 'lute or mandolin-shaped' bowl, sub keel-and-disc junction with two transverse grooves and tapering rib on back of bowl, stub of missing oval-sectioned stem, 28mm by (at least) 57mm. See (S1), (S2) and (S3)).
1 medieval pottery sherd (jar rim, unglazed, simple everted early medieval form, late 12th century).
