Map

January 2001. NMP
A section of bank is visible as an earthwork at TF 6971 4336 to TF 6959 4362 on 1944 aerial photographs (S1). It can be seen both to the north and south of a watercourse enlarged to make a World War Two tank trap (NHER 26701). The northern section of the bank is depicted as an earthwork abutting the watercourse on the 1905 2nd Edition 25 inch map (S2). This would suggest that the bank is pre-20th century in date, although its exact function is unclear. The sections visible on the aerial photographs appear to abut the parish boundary, but do not cross into Holme next the Sea. This may suggest that it formed part of an earlier boundary.
A. Hunt (NMP), 22 January 2001.
