Map

January 2001. NMP.
Earthworks of a minefield are visible on a 1945 aerial photograph (S1) at TF 6992 4410 to TF 7030 4432. It is situated on the coast edge and joins two other coastal defence features. It joins the end of the beach defence/barbed wire obstruction (NHER 26694) and a ditch, which is part of NHER 23518. The minefield would have been part of the wider World War Two coastal defences for this area. It runs to the north of, and thus protects, some structures, which appear to have been used by the military. The minefield can be seen on 1944 aerial photographs (S2) too, and very faint earthworks can be made out on 1971 aerial photographs, again showing the location of the minefield.
A. Hunt (NMP), 19 January 2001.
