Map

Before June 2002. Casual Find.
A flaked axehead or axe roughout was found. It has been identified as a roughly flaked axe with a quadrilateral section, measuring 135mm x 54mm x 37mm. It's in a pale grey flint with unusually high levels of coarse grained inclusions. Only the potential cutting edge is of good quality flint. The axe is probably usable in its present state, but may have been intended for grinding or polishing for further shaping. The flint surfaces are a patinated greyish white and there is some spotty iron staining.
K. Hinds (NLA), 31 October 2002.
