Map

May 2002. Norfolk NMP.
The site consists of a group of parallel linear features, visible on 1946 RAF aerial photographs, see (S1) and (S2). Two of which appear to possibly be defining an angular and slightly funnelled trackway, from TF 8159 4236 to TF 8180 4239. Within this feature are several other linears parallel to the southern ditch of the trackway, all between 2 to 3m apart. All of these narrower ditches turn 90° to the north at their western ends. Also at TF 8174 4237 is a three sided ditched feature, possibly part of a small rectilinear enclosure, 20m by 9m. The exact nature of these features is not clear, although many elements appear to relate to trackways. It is possible that they are part of a field system or enclosed landscape, possibly Late Iron Age or Roman in date, although at present no definite interpretation can be put forward. A slightly sinuous linear feature is also visible to the north, running in three sections from TF 8192 4274 to TF 8177 4241. It is 370m long in total and up to 2m wide. It is possible that this is part of a boundary or a trackway and it may be of relatively recent origin.
S. Massey (NMP). 20 May 2002.
