Map

July 2002. Norfolk NMP.
Area of cropmarks in field to immediate east of school visible on RAF aerial photography from 1945 (S1) and 1946 (S2). Parchmarks indicate an oblong enclosure, measuring 45m by 18m. This has a co joined linear to the north. A second parched linear is also visible to the south of the field, centred on TF 8054 4182. Several narrow ditches can also be seen faintly on the 1946 RAF photography, centred on TF 8053 4424. More extensive linear cropmarks and parched banks are visible on slide photography taken in 1974 (S3), although these could not be mapped due to lack of control. The date and origin of these features is unknown and the fact that this was adjacent to a school mean that it is possible that the field was used for various activities that may have killed off the grass.
S. Massey (NMP), 12 July 2002.
