Summary

An oblong pit of possible medieval to post medieval date is visible on aerial photographs of this area. This feature may be a fish or oyster storage pond, although it does not appear to be linked to the main creeks by any channels. It is also possible that this is an extractive pit possibly for brine material.

An oblong or sub rectangular pit located on the Brancaster saltmarsh is visible on 1969 Hunting Survey photographs (S1). It is 20m by 6m. This feature may be a fish or oyster storage pond, although it does not appear to be linked to the main creeks by any channels. It is also possible that this is an extractive pit possibly for brine material, possibly of medieval-post-medieval date.
