Map

May 2002. Norfolk NMP.
Fragments of post medieval sea banks are visible on 1969 Hunting Survey photographs (S1). These lines of possible banks may relate to the lines of 'old banks' referred to on an 1822 map of the area (S2). These are probably remnants of old sea defences, which have become subsumed by the later, more northerly examples and fallen into disrepair.

There are four stretches of possible banks just visible in saltmarsh. The northern two share the same alignment and are probably part of the same feature, potentially running from TF 8416 4515 to TF 8442 4515. These are between 2.5 to 5m in width. A parallel, second line of bank is visible 25m to the south. This runs from TF 8414 4512 to TF 8422 4512. To the south a stretch of 130m long and 4m wide bank is visible from TF 88403 4501 to TF 8416 4501.
S. Massey (NMP), 8 May 2002.
