Map

September 2002. Norfolk NMP.
Broad soilmark of linear feature running from TF 6800 4183 to TF 6779 4189, visible on 1953 RAF aerial photographs (S1). It is 215m long and 18m wide. It is possibly a late medieval to post medieval bank feature, possibly relating to the route of the chapelbank mentioned on a parish plan, which pre-dates the 1857 Hunstanton Enclosure Map (S2). The line also appears as possible field boundaries on the 1689 Hunstanton Field Book (S3). It is also possible that this road is much later and represents a compacted surface from World War Two transport to the Coastal Battery site to the immediate west (NHER 26938).
S. Massey (NMP), 18 September 2002.
