Full Description
June 2001. Norfolk 2002. Norfolk NMP.
The site consists of relatively shallow ditches, visible on 1946 RAF aerial photographs (S1), which appear to define a possible ditched rectilinear enclosure, centred on TF 6700 4000 and approximately 43m across and at least 47m wide. The outer ditches are up to 1.5m across. Within the area defined by these earthworks are several linear features, up to 1m wide; one of which has right-angled elements. It is possible that the slight ditch earthworks to the west, now separated by the hedge, were part of the same feature. To the east of these features is a curvilinear ditch, 27m long, running from 6703 4000 to 6705 4002. The date of these features is unknown, although it seems likely that they are relatively recent in date, possible post medieval. However it is also possible that they relate to much more recent and non archaeological activity on the site.
S. Massey (NMP), 27 June 2001.
