Summary

A fine example of an early 20th century weighbridge with panelled control cabin has been preserved in situ when the works previously situated here was demolished and the estate constructed. The deck is set in to the cobbled street, and embossed W & T AVERY LONDON AND BIRMINGHAM TO WEIGH 8 TONS. The control machinery is in a low building to the south, now Rackham's Funeral Directors, and the adjacent drain cover is marked EAST DEREHAM FOUNDRY.
