Summary

Metal-detecting at this location between 2002 and 2024 recovered an Early Neolithic part-polished flint adze or axehead; Roman and post-medieval pottery sherds; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; medieval jettons and a range of other, undated and Roman to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include an undated copper alloy ferrule; Roman brooches, a hairpin and possible pendant or toilet implement; an Early Saxon brooch; a Late Saxon strap end and harness link; medieval and post-medieval dress accessories; medieval horse-harness pendants, a pendant leaf from personal dress or horse harness, possible book mount, chape, lead seal matrices, lead ampulla, lead pot mend and lead possible tracery from window grille; a medieval/post-medieval thimble and post-medieval book clasps, a crotal bell, copper alloy weight, copper alloy ring, lead cloth seals, writing lead and cast lead sheet unidentified object.

Roman copper alloy Headstud Brooch, chain-loop missing, damaged stepped wings, fragment of broken hinged pin, integral stud at head of bow above counter relief lozengiform pattern, foot missing, 13 x 25mm (at least). Compare with (S1). 2nd century AD.
