Summary

The River Nene Outfall was dug in 1830 to make Wisbech into a port. It was known as Paupers cut and Harrington's cut. The eastern half is in Norfolk and the northern part in Cambridgeshire.

River Nene canalisation. Dug in 1830 to make Wisbech into a port. Known as Paupers cut and Harrington's cut, the eastern half is in Norfolk, the entire width was in Norfolk until 1933, the county boundary being the old course further to the west. The Nene Outfall to the north is in Cambridgeshire.
