Three circular areas of disturbed ground, each containing a small central structure are visible on aerial photographs (S1). The grid reference for these features has been amended from TG 4004 0948 to TG 4009 0952. They have previously been identified as weapons pits (S3) and (S3) notes that they were used for the storage of phosphorous bombs. However, the aerial photographs show that the circular central feature is casting a shadow and is upstanding rather than a pit. They do not have the appearance of weapons pits. It is not likely that they are spigot mortar pedestals either as there would be no strategic advantage in having three of those positioned so close together in open ground. The three small, low structures are circular and have a diameter of approximately 1m. The fact that they are surrounded by areas of disturbed soil suggests that they are likely to be metal cattle troughs. It is possible that munitions were buried in this field during World War Two, but it does not appear that the features visible on aerial photographs were associated with them.
