February/March 2003. Metal detecting.
Abraded fragment of Early Saxon cruciform brooch, head-plate with panel and cast-in-one knobs (one missing). These are decorated with low transverse mouldings on their convex fronts and have shallow round concavities on the reverse. The top knob is much wider and longer than the side knob. Both may have lost splayed terminals. No surface decoration is now visible. Ancient braeks. Mid 6th century.
