Summary

Metal-detecting in this area since 2003 has recovered a wide variety of objects. Finds included part of an Early Bronze Age chisel, Roman coins and metal finds, a 4th or 5th century AD strap fitting, an Early Saxon brooch and wrist clasp, a Late Saxon brooch, weight, finger ring and stirrup strap mount, a 17th century coin weight from Amsterdam and post-medieval German jettons. Metal-detecting in 2010-11 recovered an Early Saxon button brooch, a Late Saxon strap-end and a fragment of a medieval processional cross.
