Summary

This 17th century house has a rendered exterior, half hipped roof and sash windows. Although it seems unremarkable this was the home of distinguish local linguist and author George Borrow from 1816-24. Additionally, in 1994 a chalk cut well was found under the kitchen of the house.

Listing Description excerpt:
"House. 17th century. Rendered. Pantile roof. Set back from street-line. 2 storeys. 3 bays. Door to right-side with panelled surround, consoles and pedment. Sash windows throughout with glazing bars. Shutters at ground floor. Hal- hipped roof. Home of George Borrow from 1816 to 1824."
