Map

September 2002. Norfolk NMP.
The feature appears as two parallel running linear parchmarks visible from TF 6474 2774 to TF 6485 2760, aligned in a north-west to southeast direction (S1). The features are approximately 15m apart. The two features have a recorded length of 180m although a further 100m length of linear feature is visible running to TF 6492 2752, which may be a less well preserved southeastern extension of the feature. There is a single east to west aligned linear feature (TF 6471 2757 to TF 6494 2759) which is probably a field boundary.
The feature may represent an embanked road or trackway, although it is exceptionally wide and no further trace of the feature can be discerned. Likewise if the feature were a sea defence bank more of the feature should be visible either to the southeast or northwest. It is possible that the northern part of the is in fact a modern track, and is not archaeological at all. The possible southeastern extent of the feature crosses the ridge and furrow NHER 36955 although no relationship is evident.
M. Brennand (NMP), 24 September 2002.
