Map

June 2002. Norfolk NMP.
The group consists of four irregular shaped mounds (S1), three of which are aligned with their longer axis in an approximately east to west direction. The mounds range in maximum length from 44m to 64m. The mounds are visible as low earthworks in 1943 (S2), although they are difficult to define, and have been mapped from cropmarks on a later image (S1).
These are probably medieval saltern mounds, originally created during salt production on the former saltmarsh. They are part of a wider group, all of which are likely to date from the medieval period.
M. Brennand (NMP), 23 June 2003.
