Map

June 2003. Norfolk NMP.
The mound is sub-rounded in plan, with a maximum diameter of 86m (S1). This is almost certainly a medieval saltern mound, created by the mounding up of waste sand which has had the salt filtered from it. This feature is one of several within this area, on the former saltmarsh. There is a relatively small circular ring ditch in the centre of the mound (S1) with a diameter of 6.5m. This may be the remains of a structure or building, but is most likely to be a stack stand, and probably post-dates the saltern mound.
M. Brennand (NMP), 23 June 2003.
