Map

June 2003. Norfolk NMP.
A sub-rectangular to irregular mound is visible at TF 6286 2129, with a narrow ditch on its north-western and north-eastern sides (S1). The feature is aligned with its long axis in a south-west to north-east direction, and has relatively straight north-western and north-eastern sides. The southern end is irregular and appears truncated. The feature has a length of 13m, and width of 8m. This may be a stack base or a building platform, and may be medieval, Post-medieval or modern date, although a Post-medieval date seems most likely. There is a second rectangular mound visible at TF 6285 2126, with a length of 10m and width of 4.5m (S1). This is possibly some form of stack base, and possibly dates from the later Post-medieval period.
There is an isolated area of ridge and furrow type earthworks at TF 6290 2128 (S2), aligned in a south-west to north-east direction. These features are relatively straight and short, and are probably some form of lazybedding practised on the newly reclaimed saltmarsh.
M. Brennand (NMP), 24 June 2003.
