Full Description
1950. Site of Lacon's Brewery, near Row 21. In digging foundations for new boiler.
At 5.3m (17 3/4 feet) above Ordnance Datum (Liverpool). Basal portion of stone mortar, now 18cm (7 inches) diameter, 6.4cm (2 1/2 inches) deep.
Identified by Dr. K.C. Dunham (Geological Survey) as Nummulitic limestone; nearest source is Paris Basin.
