Map

May 2002. Norfolk NMP.
There appears to be four banks/linear features to be seen within the old fields at ‘Old Field Farm’. These banks are visible on 1969 Hunting Survey aerial photographs (S1-2). They all run approximately W-E (along the length of the fields). They range in length from ca. 90m to 50m and seem to be between about 2 and 3m wide. Their locations are TF7394 4390 to TF7399 4391, TF7393 4388 to TF7399 4389, TF7390 4387 to TF7399 4388, and TF7392 4384 to TF7400 4385.
The purpose of these banks is not clear. It is possible that it is some form of further field division, which would have created narrow strips of about 15m wide. Alternatively it could be some form of ridge and furrow, but it has a rather strange appearance for this, so this is unlikely. There is no sign of these features on the 2nd edition OS map (S3). The origin and date of these features are uncertain.
