Summary

Two linear banks are visible on the OS aerial photographs from 1972. The exact origin of these features is unclear. It seems likely that they are the remains of old field boundaries. It is possible that they are of post-medieval date, though this is uncertain.

Map

May 2002. Norfolk NMP.
Two linear banks are visible on the OS aerial photographs from 1972 (S1). They run from TF7255 4217 to TF7255 4182, and TF7272 4224 to TF7291 4191. The exact date and origin of these features is unclear. It seems likely that they are the remains of old, possibly post-medieval, field boundaries. They themselves are not visible on the 2nd edition OS map (S2), however, they do seem to relate to field boundaries and the general layout of the fields in that area. In fact when compared to the 2nd edition OS it would appear that this is much the case and that these two bank/linears are the remains of boundaries dividing up a larger field unit.
(These are only sketch plotted due to a problem with control points for mapping as only large OS images were available).
