Summary

A bank is visible to the south of ‘The Firs’ running along part of the north to west side of Broad Water. It seems likely that this is some form of embankment against flooding from Broad Water. It can be seen on 1945 RAF aerial photographs and later images, including Hunting Survey aerial photographs from 1969. The date is uncertain, it may be relatively modern though it is possible that this bank may be of post medieval origin.
