According to an 18th century map the remains of a lime kiln stood here. The date of the kiln was uncertain.

Unusual brick vaulted store room off.

No local limeburners, but several brickmakers referenced in directories. It is possible that this kiln was owned and run by the Hare Estate, which owned a lot of the land around Shouldham and the brick style matches the style of the brick kilns on the estate.
