Summary

This house has an east end composed of large blocks of reused limestone, and has side walls with 16th or 17th century brick at the ground floor. The stonework is thought to come from King's Lynn, and the building appears to have been heightened from one storey and attic to two storeys in the 19th century.

Map

House, west gable wall facing onto common, east composed of big blocks of reused limestone, one with a socket, spaced with carrstone. Two large shaped blocks act as original gable springers - side walls are of 16th/17th brick at ground floor, but upper floor of 19th brick. Actual gable is rendered. East wall not visible. If stonework comes from Lynn, suggests Dissolution date, which would tie in with side walls (unlikely brickwork is as early as 15th century remodelling of parish church, and too early for 19th century restoration). Building apparently heightened from one storey and attic to two storey in 19th century. Informant [1] states interior unmodernised.
