Map

2002. Medlar Place, High Street. Found holding up a toilet seat in this property when under restoration; secondary location.
Two wooden heads. Photographs (S1) in file.
Victoria and Albert Museum suggest from photographs that these could be part of a late medieval hammerbeam roof (Mundesley church roof survived in part until about 1911).
Heads examined by E. Rose (NLA), S. Ashley (NLA), C. Proudlove (NCM) and F. Collinson (RLM) in December 2002. Conclusion reached was that they may indeed be from hammerbeams, but may also belong to carved figures from the jetty of a house, late medieval/early post medieval.
Not suitable for dendrochronology dating.
Correspondence (S2) in file.
E. Rose (NLA), 24 June 2003.

(S3) should be a useful source of reference, not yet consulted.
E. Rose (NLA), 2 April 2007.
