Summary

Aerial photography from 1944 and 1945 records the presence of a line of World War Two concrete emplacements, such as pillboxes, and several military style rectangular buildings. It seems likely that the buildings are storehouses or accommodation blocks associated with the other defensive structures in the area.

Map

August 2002. Norfolk NMP.
The features appear to be a line (TF 6516 3240 to TF 6524 3201) of 7 square to rectangular concrete settings, set into the ground (S1). The features have an average approximate dimension of 6m X 4.5m. The features are visible in December 1944 (S1) but appear to have been removed by June 1945, leaving depressions surrounded by spoil. At the southern end there is a group of eight elongated rectangular buildings which are also likely to be military structures, although there is a slim risk they are agricultural. It seems likely that they are storehouses or accommodation blocks associated with the other defensive structures in the area.
M. Brennand (NMP), 22 August 2002.
